From September 15-18th, one of my favorite tattoo events will take place in Western Massachusetts, bringing in renowned tattooists from around the world to share information, paint together, and of course tattoo attendees:

The Paradise Tattoo Gathering is unique in this focus on education, creation, and recreation.

The Gathering takes place at Jiminy Peak, a ski resort in the Berkshire mountains on the border between New York and Massachusetts. This is the last time the event will be held here before it moves west next year. There will be 35 different offerings of tattoo and art seminars, workshops, and discussion panels covering a wide range of the art over the course of four days.

Many seminars have sold out already including the Nick Baxter, Craola, Shawn Barber, and Workhorse Irons machine building seminars. But there are still places left for seminars with Chet Zar, Bob Tyrrell, Tommy Lee Wendtner, Alex Depase, Joe Capobianco, Robert Ryan, BJ Betts, Big Gus, Hunter Spanks, Liorcifer, Bez, Chris Dingwell, Larry Brogan, and so many more. There also also seminars for the kids, as well as organized childcare for Friday and Saturday nights.

Frankie: "A friend of mine gave me my first machine, I had it about 2 yrs before I went out and bought the rest of equipment to start tattooing. I started getting tattooed at age 15 when it was still underground and illegal in nyc, pretty much fell in love with the art at that point.


"I started getting heavily tattooed around the age of 17. I always enjoyed watching the process of getting tattooed and pretty much went from there. I have been drawing my whole life but since age of 12 I got into electrical work, after school and shit at first, and then full time."


By the age of 17 I was a foreman and by age of 21 I was a project manager. I was so spoiled at my company, got what I wanted when and how I wanted it... The money was crazy but I always felt something was missing. In 2008 I started tattooing myself and friends, like a whenever I had time kinda thing.


In November 2009 one of my best friends and owner of the electrical company I was working with passed away, and at that time we closed company. I had 100's of offers to go and do electrical work and just didnt wanna do it anymore, so I said fuck it and started tattooing full time. A friend of mine and tattoo artist at the time saw talent and allowed me work in his shop.


I worked there for about 7 months and left to go work at another shop.
Worked there about 2 months with the intention on moving to Florida and work at a tattoo shop. Then out of nowhere I was confronted with the opportunity to buy the shop I was working at, and here I am. Took over the shop in November 2010 and went crazy getting it to be what I wanted it to be..."


Frankie worked hard to rebuild the shop and show that finally quality work is being done at the location.


Frankie: "The shop before was putting out horrible work, so it was killa
trying to re-build location. But I did what I had to and now people are coming to really take to my work..." I have the satisfaction of seeing my work out there and proudly say I did that piece.



I have only worked 1 convention so far which was Inkfest Live in Charlotte, N.C. February of this year and will be doing another convention with them again in Washington D.C. in November later this year. This time I plan on entering a few pieces for contest and hopefully I will be able to walk away with my 1st trophy... We shall see..."

Known for his strong and sensuous depictions of women, Brian M. Viveros is a master of contemporary iconography paying homage to the femme fatale. While he almost exclusively paints portraits, within the expressions of his women is conveyed such deep emotion and overwhelming sexuality that his work is undeniably erotic. Often without even a hint of nudity, the viewer is seduced with a mere pout and gaze from his subject's faces. With explosive compositions and an unmistakable style, Viveros creates 20th century representations of both beauty and culture.

In 2005 Viveros made his directing debut with his short "Dislandia", and he has since created the full length feature "Southern" and other films, which have premiered internationally and have been featured on networks including The Sundance Channel.

“Neverland” gives the audience a personal look into Diriwaechter’s imaginary world and its inhabitants, many spawning from the artist’s childhood memories.

“As a child growing up in Switzerland my family and I spent many summers in a remote cabin in the alps. Besides spending much time reading books, my mother often told me wonderful stories of faraway worlds full of fantastic characters,” Diriwaechter said. “During the day I spent many hours exploring the alpine meadows in the company of these imaginary friends. Today many of my portraits are of characters who escaped from this fantasy world. They each carry with them their own unique story. I hope the imagery evokes the imagination of the viewer to come up with their own background for each inhabitant.”

Born and raised in Switzerland, Diriwaechter found her way to the United States, settling in the Hudson region of New York State. After years in the advertising industry, Diriwaechter landed a job at the Connecticut-based, award-winning Blue Sky Studios as a materials technical director where she has contributed to movies such as “Ice Age 2,” “Robots” and “Horton Hears a Who!” Mainly known for her fine art photography, Diriwaechter has been recognized with many different awards including 1st and 2nd Prize at the prestigious International Photography Awards (Luci Awards), 1st Prize for The PX3 Peoples Choice Awards and a Merit Award chosen by Susan Kismaric, curator for The Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
